The Anchor series was released in 1998 as a sports brand providing high performance aimed at users with a preference for racing through to fitness riders. Our racing team, Bridgestone Anchor, which takes part in races in Japan and overseas, was also named after this to support our bicycle race activities. The invaluable mass of data that we have built up through our daily involvement in racing was scientifically analyzed and used in the development of these bicycles.
The RFA5 road bike was designed to provide comfort during long rides and to reduce physical stress owing to an increase in the popularity of road bikes and the number of riders who enjoy long rides.
The new RFA5 WOMEN was developed based on RFA5 for female cycling fans.
In more detail, it is a road bike especially designed for women who demand comfort and performance, and it boasts a frame design that also enables an upright riding position, a slender aluminum frame with higher levels of shock absorption, a horizontal rigidity design that provides more flexibility than RFA5 to lighten the load of pedaling, full carbon front forks with superior levels of shock absorption, a comfortable saddle designed especially for women, and drop handlebars that are easy to grip with the smaller hands of women. The lineup consists of two models; one with the SORA specification 18-speed transmission and the other with the TIAGRA 20-speed transmission, both manufactured by Shimano.
A special exhibition featuring the ANCHOR 2012 models, including the RFA5 WOMEN, will be held at the Bike Forum Aoyama (Jingu-mae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) between October 13 and November 30.

<Features of the RFA5 WOMEN>

An aluminum frame especially designed for women who demand comfort that reduces pedaling load and physical stress by reducing the diameter of the down tube and chain stay and reducing horizontal rigidity by approximately 5% more than the RFA5, for which horizontal rigidity was reduced by approximately 20% with the use of an aluminum frame for racing.
2. Full carbon front forks
The full carbon front forks, with vents on the tips that are slightly bent, is made of lightweight, shock-suppression carbon to provide even higher levels of shock absorption. The geometry (dimensions) of the frame have been designed to enable an upright riding position to reduce physical stress during long rides, which is more comfortable than the forward-leaning riding position used to reduce wind resistance when racing.

Uses Extenza ties, which were developed in a collaboration of Bridgestone's tire technology and professional riders on the Team Bridgestone Anchor.

We have adopted an order system to enable the selection of 35 different frame colors, 3 frame sizes, 2 types of handlebars, 4 stem sizes, 3 bar tape colors, 5 outer-wire colors, 2 types of wheels, 2 types of gear cranks, 2 types of sprockets, 2 types of pedals, 3 types of saddles, and name inscription.

10. Frame size that is perfect for short ladies of 138cm and upwards We developed a frame with a size of 385mm to enable short ladies from 138cm and upwards to ride the bicycle without reducing the size of the 700C wheels, which is the popular size for road bikes.
